Whether you want to install your window blind, patio awning or plantation shutter yourself, or you want us to do
it for you, you'll need to take some measurements. How accurately you will need to measure will depend on who's doing
the installation.
If You Want Us To Measure and Install
You will need to measure the area you wish to cover. It's not critical that you measure accurately (since that's what you want us to do!),
but you need to measure within a couple of centimetres so that you get priced for the correct size.
Click here for a handy general guide to measuring, which you should read when you want us to do the installation for you.
Inside the Recess
Blinds & Shutters
Measure tight inside the recess.
These are the sizes you should use for pricing purposes.
Outside the Recess
Blinds & Shutters
Measure the width of the window, ensuring that you add approx 5cm (2") each side of the recess as an overlap.
Measure the drop of the window, ensuring that you add approx 5cm (2") to top of the recess. If you want your blind
to cover past the window sill (if there is one), then you need to add 5cm (2") here also.
These are the sizes you should use for pricing purposes.
Bay Windows
Blinds & Shutters
Usually blinds & shutters are fitted into the recess of a bay window. We therefore advise you to measure
the sizes tight into the angles of the window. When measuring the side parts of the bay go as far out as possible.
For the drop, measure the tight top to bottom measurement.
These are the sizes you should use for pricing purposes.

Outside Blinds
Awnings
Measuring for awnings is quite simple. Measure the width of the area you would like to cover. Always try
to go as wide as possible to ensure maximum shade.
Measure the distance from the wall to approximately how far you would like to awning to project.
These are the sizes you should use for pricing purposes.
