Venetian blinds are versatile, stylish and they allow you to control the direction of light into a room, whilst still offering privacy.

They can be raised or lowered, and tilted through 180 degrees. They are typically controlled by a pull cord to raise or lower them, and an acrylic tilt wand to rotate them. Wooden blinds have tilt 'cords' for rotating the slats, since the weight of the blind is much heavier and needs a more substantial mechanism to move them.

Not Recommended for Sliding Patio Doors

Venetian blinds are made safe in the following ways:

  • No cord is left longer than 150cm from the floor when the blind is in its fully down position.
  • Where a cord is made longer when pulled (ie, when you pull the blind up, the cord gets longer), we install a cord gathering cleat.
The cleat is fitted to window frame or side of the recess into the wall.
For bay windows, we fit a cord cleat on each section of the window.
  • Cord Consolidating devices are used to convert all the cords that come out of the head-rail into one cord, thus removing the possibility of a looped cord being present when the blind is in its down position.
  • Anti-looping devices are attached to each pull cord to stop the possibility of cords being drawn from the main section of the blind and a loop forming.

We take child safety very seriously, please see our Child Safety Page for more information.

Aluminium Venetian Blinds

As the name suggests, these blinds are made of aluminum, which means they are durable, and they won't warp or split.

Aluminium blinds have been made even more exciting by the addition of wood effect finishes, and special 'super-matt' finished (also known as soft-tone).

Available in 15mm, 25mm, 35mm and 50mm slat widths.

Venetian Blinds Summary

Venetian blinds are great when it comes to being a versatile simple to use product.  You can deflect the angle of the incoming light, whilst giving yourself privacy and keeping the sun's heat out.

Most customers' concerns with venetian blinds focus around the cleaning of the product, so with that in mind we tend to advise customers to have a larger slat (louvre) size to make cleaning a slightly less laborious job. That said, a feather duster and paint brush are all you need to keep a venetian blind clean without too much fuss.... ask us how and we'll be glad to tell you.
